Common characteristics of my gourd lamps:
Traditionally almost all gourd lamps are either varnished or painted in white. Altough they look great in the night time and in darkness, I found them boring during the day time. That’s why I put an extra focus on exterior coloring of the gourds so that they also perform as decorative objects which would suit with your existing decoration. This is also how I try to desitinguish my work from the others.
If you like the design but not sure about the coloring, please communicate as I have a free coloring service. I can apply any color onto the same design.
Calabash based gourd lamps can only be handmade and it is not possible to manufacture gourd lamps from calabash due to the nature of the raw material. Although each and every single gourd is unique and unlike each other, most of them look the same and that’s how we are able to apply the same design onto different gourds.
But again, once completed, each gourd lamp is unique and one single copy craftwork. Altough there is an increase at the number of gourd crafters in the world, due to its challenging making process and the raw material being a seasonal product with limited availability, a handmade gourd lamp is still a rare item to be found in any shopping mall. With such characteristics, a gourd lamp is an ideal decorative object for home decor suitable for all tsates and styles from modern to boho.
